Questions
The things people usually ask before they book a call. If yours is not here, email us.
What exactly does Ahead do?
We match you with an expert operator who has already done what you’re trying to do with AI. You meet on video and work on your actual projects together: the prompts, the tools, the automations, the checks. One hour at a time, on what you’re actually working on.
What does it mean to "calibrate" my AI?
An instrument that isn’t calibrated still gives you a reading. It just isn’t true. AI is the same. Calibrating a workflow means tuning what you ask, what the model knows, what it does, and the read before anything goes out, until the output is something you’d put your name on. And because models and tools keep changing, it isn’t a one-time job. Things drift. You keep them tuned, and you stay the judge of your own work.
Who is Ahead for, and who is it not for?
It’s for people who already use AI every day at work, and who have noticed that what they build with it doesn’t always hold up. You don’t need to be technical, but you’re past asking what a prompt is. It’s probably not for you if you’ve never used AI, if you’re shopping for a team workshop, or if you want the work done for you and handed over. We build things with you, so you can run them.
Who are the operators?
Senior practitioners who build with AI every day: people who have shipped the products, run the teams, and solved the class of problem you're facing. We recruit the go-to person everyone already asks about AI, and we screen on real work, never on a CV. The network spans engineering, design, marketing, finance, operations and more.
How does matching work?
You answer a few short questions and book a free placement call. On the call, you tell us what you’re working on and what a good outcome looks like. Then we match you with the operator whose experience fits. If the right operator isn’t in the network yet, you go on the waitlist and hear first when they join.
Is the placement call really free?
Yes. We ask for a card to hold your booking, but nothing is charged until we match you with your operator. No match, no charge. The card just means every call we hold is with someone ready to start.
How quickly can I get started?
Book your placement call and we take it from there. If the right operator is in the network, you’re matched and your first session goes on the calendar. If not, you’re on the waitlist, you hear first, and you’re never charged while you wait.
What happens in a session?
One hour, on video, in your tools, on something real. Some members use it to find where AI could take work off their plate. Some bring a setup that isn’t holding up. Some build something new, live, in the hour. Afterwards your operator writes it up: what you worked on, what you built, what’s next. It’s all logged in the Ahead platform, and everything you build stays in your tools. It’s yours.
How often do we meet, and can I reach my operator between sessions?
You choose weekly or every-other-week sessions, on video from anywhere. Between sessions, you can message your operator directly, so a Tuesday problem doesn’t have to wait for the next session.
When can sessions happen?
Whenever you and your operator's calendars line up. Your operator keeps real availability on the platform, you book directly from it, and every time slot you see is already in your own time zone, wherever the two of you are. You can book up to three months ahead, so travel or a busy stretch doesn't break your rhythm. And if the times never line up, that's a fit problem: tell us and we'll rematch you.
Do unused sessions roll over?
No. The membership is a cadence, weekly or every other week, and it works because the hour is standing. If a week gets away from you, reschedule the session rather than letting it lapse. The one exception: if your operator ever has to cancel on you, that session comes back to you as a credit.
What if I need to move or miss a session?
Move it. You can reschedule any session on the platform with at least 24 hours' notice, free. Inside 24 hours, or if you don't show up, the session counts as used and your operator is still paid, because they held that hour for you. If something unavoidable happens, tell us and we'll look at it.
Is this a course?
No. There’s no curriculum, no modules, nothing to graduate from. You do your own work with an expert beside you, and the learning comes the way it does in an apprenticeship: real work, next to someone who knows how.
How is this different from hiring a freelancer?
A freelancer does the work and takes the knowledge with them when they leave. Your operator builds with you, in your tools, so what’s left behind is a working setup and a person who can run it: you. You also skip the sourcing and the vetting. We’ve already done both.
Why wouldn’t I just ask the person at work who already knows AI?
If you have that person, you know the limits. They’re busy, it isn’t their job, and you can only ask so often. The more senior you are, the fewer people you can ask at all. Your operator is private, outside your company, and their whole job is you.
Is what we work on confidential?
Yes. Your operator is outside your company, so nothing you share travels back to your employer. Sessions are recorded so your operator can write up what you worked on; recordings stay inside Ahead and are never shared or sold. And everything you build stays in your tools, under your own accounts.
What if my operator isn’t the right fit?
Tell us. Fit matters more than anything else here, and we would rather rematch you than have you push through a mismatch. We'll pair you with a different operator. Rematching is free and your price doesn't change.
What happens if my operator has to cancel a session?
You get the session back. If your operator cancels, whatever the notice, it never counts against your plan: the session returns to you as a credit and you rebook it. And if your operator ever leaves Ahead, everything you built together stays in your record, we match you with a new operator, and your price doesn't change.
How do I become an Ahead operator?
If you're that go-to person that everyone asks about AI, you’re who we recruit. Operators are senior practitioners who build with AI daily, and we screen on real work, never on a CV. In return you get paid, recurring sessions with members matched to your discipline: no sourcing, no selling, no chasing invoices. Click here to become an Ahead operator.
What does it cost?
Membership is a flat monthly price, set by how often you meet: $650 a month for weekly, or $390 a month for every other week. Both include the same operator, the same record and the same access. You can pay monthly, or prepay quarterly and save 10%. Full pricing is shown as you book, before you enter a card and before anything is scheduled.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, anytime, with no fee. If you pay monthly, your sessions run through the month you've paid for. If you prepaid a quarter, they run through that quarter. You keep every session you've paid for, and you're never charged again after you cancel.
Can I pause my membership?
We don't do pauses, and the alternative is better than it sounds. You can cancel anytime, your sessions run through what you've already paid for, and your record stays with Ahead the whole time. Come back whenever you're ready and you pick up right where you left off.
